Situated in the Yorkshire Dales village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale, originally built in the late eighteenth century for a local landowner and later used as a shooting lodge before being converted to a B&B in 1974 and fully renovated by us in 2017.
Since 2017 we’ve renovated and nurtured this quaint old property back to life, with care and consideration for the environment, using as much of the original features as possible, with renewable energy air source heat pumps installed for our heating.
The Rowe House itself is a luxury B&B, with views of Pen y Ghent, offering our guests attention to detail and personal touches, which will ensure you relax and enjoy your stay in the heart of the beautiful North Yorkshire Dales.
In 2021 we opened our half acre paddock ‘The Croft’ as a 5 pitch CL site with the Caravan and Motorhome club. This enjoys spectacular views towards Pen y Ghent and benifits from a shower, toilet and utility room with use of a washing maching and tumble drier.
We are now pleased to offer our newest project ‘The Shippon’. This was formed from rescuing two small stone buildings situated in our main garden. It is a self catering unit with kitchenette, large shower room and bed deck. It sleeps 2 in either twin or kingsize beds and a further 2 using a sofa bed in the living/dining room. We are happy to accomodate children over the age of 5 and one small dog here.
The Rowe House is located in the village of Horton in Ribblesdale, just 200 metres from the Pennine Way and the Three Yorkshire Peak challenge route. Whether you are a walker, cyclist, fell runner, caver, angler, golfer, train enthusiast or just want to tour around the area taking in the sights, there is plenty to do and enjoy.
Horton has its own railway station a five-minute walk away from The Rowe House, the first stop on the Settle – Carlisle railway line, with connections via Leeds direct to Kings Cross and Scotland. So you can abandon the car and come and visit us by train.
We have two pubs in the village offering home cooked dishes, we can recommend other local places to eat, from fine dining to relaxed pub grub. Tea shops are in abundance, all with fantastic Yorkshire hospitality. Occasionally we offer dinners in The Rowe House please enquire directly with us for this option.
Before moving to The Rowe House in April 2017, Robert and Jane ran Chalfont Classic Cuisine Ltd for 19 years as a special events catering company with many repeat customers in South Bucks, London and the Home Counties. We have had many repeat guests stay with us, many saying that our breakfasts are the best they’ve had anywhere. We hope that by staying at The Rowe House you too will enjoy our great food and hospitality in our new venture and home in The Yorkshire Dales National Park.
